Epoxidation of Alkenes and Oxidation of Alcohols with Hydrogen Peroxide Catalyzed by a Fe (Br8TPPS) Supported on Amberlite IRA-400
Authors
Abstract:
Iron (III) meso-tetrakis(p-sulfonatophenyl)-β-octabromoporphyrin supported on Amberlite IRA- 400 [Fe(Br8 TPPS)-Ad-400] is a robust and efficient catalyst for oxidation of alkenes and alcohols at room temperature. The catalyst exhibits a high activity and stability in hydrocarbon oxidation by H2 O2 . The method was useful in the oxidation of various primary, secondary-aliphatic, alicyclic and aromatic alcohols. Both activated and non-activated alcohols were converted into their corresponding carbonyls efficiently and selectively. Aqueous hydrogen peroxide as an environmentally benign oxidant is utilized in oxygen transfer. The oxidation reaction using heterogeneous solid catalysts with H2 O2 as oxidants are environmentally friendly routes to produce extensively useful epoxides which are traditionally obtained from capital-intensive or environmentally polluted processes.

Epoxidation of alkenes and oxidation of alcohols with hydrogen peroxide catalyzed by a manganese(V) nitrido complex.
The manganese(V) nitrido complex (PPh(4))(2)[Mn(N)(CN)(4)] is an active catalyst for alkene epoxidation and alcohol oxidation using H(2)O(2) as an oxidant. The catalytic oxidation is greatly enhanced by the addition of just one equivalent of acetic acid. The oxidation of ethene by this system has been studied computationally by the DFT method.

In this paper, a novel catalyst (MgAl2O4@SiO2-PTA) was proposed for the green oxidation of aliphatic alcohols. The resultant composite was characterized by different techniques, such as X-ray diffraction (XRD), SEM, FT-IR, EDX and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) surface area analysis. The prepared nanocomposite was used as a catalyst for oxidation of aliphatic alco...

full textTungsten-Catalyzed Asymmetric Epoxidation of Allylic and Homoallylic Alcohols with Hydrogen Peroxide
A simple, efficient, and environmentally friendly asymmetric epoxidation of primary, secondary, tertiary allylic, and homoallylic alcohols has been accomplished. This process was promoted by a tungsten-bishydroxamic acid complex at room temperature with the use of aqueous 30% H2O2 as oxidant, yielding the products in 84-98% ee.

The development of environmentally benign reactions is an important goal in synthetic organic chemistry and chemical engineering. However, catalytic enantioselective oxidations using transition-metal complexes are limited when the oxidant is hydrogen peroxide. The two main difficulties of using hydrogen peroxide in the presence of transition metal complexes are the homolytic cleavage generating...
